Kittens are more susceptible to parvo especially if exposed to an infected animal such as their mother.

But parvo can also be transmitted by fleas that have fed off of an infected cat which is why it s very difficult to prevent your kitten from being exposed to this deadly disease. So while it is uncommon yes cats can get parvovirus from dogs.

It is important to know the symptoms and it s even more important to protect your cat by vaccinating it since this is the only way of preventing feline parvovirus. Feline panleukopenia is an extremely contagious virus that kills cells in the intestines lymph nodes fetuses and bone marrow attacking red and white blood cells. Kittens from two to eight months are especially vulnerable to this disease and can experience severe symptoms. However kittens and juvenile cats usually 3 5 months old are susceptible to a different form of parvovirus called feline panleukopenia or fp for short.
